CHARITY BOWLS DAY RAISES $65,000.00 FOR RICKY STUART FOUNDATION
Weston Creek Labor Club in the ACT hosted the annual Ricky Stuart Foundation Charity Bowls Day on Friday 25th March 2022. After 2 years absence 42 corporate teams of 4 players took to the greens. The event was a huge success with $65,000.00 being raised on the day. A massive thank you to the Kenyon Foundation who donated $10,000.00 on the day as well. This was the fourth charity bowls day bringing the total money raised to over $176,000.00.
Ricky Stuart, chairman of the Ricky Stuart Foundation, whose daughter suffers from autism, described Weston Creek Labor Club as a club renowned for its strong community spirit, commitment and excellent facilities.
“I am so grateful for the ongoing support from the Canberra Labor Club and the event sponsors, it was a pleasure to take part myself and to mix with so many wonderful people who dug deep to support the Foundation. With events like these that enable us to continue supporting the local Canberra community and grow in 2022. I am excited to announce that the proceeds from this event will go towards a new Autism Education and Awareness Campaign and Program in 2022 and 2023” the Canberra Raiders head coach said.
Ian Whybrow the clubs Bowls & Events Coordinator, said Weston Creek Labor Club was delighted to have over 180 people support a charity-based Foundation with a continuing success rate of building facilities to ease the burden of those affected by autism and their families.
“This year’s result is a clear indicator that the community is prepared to jump aboard to support important projects that enhance and improve people’s lives. It was so good to see so many new sponsors and teams come on board this year”. He also thanked everyone for participating and supporting the event.
